Maximum number of bids from last done price that orders can be placed is 30 bids. E.g. If UOB shares are trading at $21, lowest buy price that can be queued is $20.70 and highest sell price that can be queued is $21.30.

Substantial Shareholder

Section 137 of the SFA requires a substantial shareholder of a listed corporation to notify the listed corporation of a cessation in the substantial shareholder’s interest within two business days after becoming aware of the cessation of interest.

75% of shares are required for voluntary delisting from SGX.

Catalist companies are not affected by Minimum Trading Price (MTP) rule.

Listed companies are placed on watch-list by SGX if they post three straight years of pre-tax losses and have an average daily market capitalisation of less than $40 million over the last 120 days that the stock has been trading.

Watch-list companies need to become profitable within two years or raise their market value above $40 million, failing which they may face delisting from SGX.

Requirements for removal from the watch-list are as follow:

-Achieving pre-tax profit for the most recent completed financial year, and
-Average daily market capitalisation of $40 million or more over the last 120 market days.

SGX Odd Lots

Odd lots are traded on a different market and prices can vary substantially from board lots on SGX.

Odd lots can be accumulated and sold as board lots.  E.g. 200 shares of STI ETF bought monthly over 5 months and accumulated into 1,000 shares of STI ETF can be sold on board lot market.

Genting HK Shares

Genting HK shares were delisted from SGX on 17 April 2018.

Shareholders have to deposit their shares with a broking house to continue trading their shares on HKEx.

The share deposit process takes 6 weeks and involves the signing of three forms:

  • Security deposit request
  • Standard form of transfer (2 copies)
  • Specimen signature form

A deposit fee of SGD$53.50 is payable to the broking house.

Central Depository Account

Central Depository Account Statement

Central Depository (CDP) account statement is mailed to depositors monthly if there are transactions in the account.

The account statement is mailed on a six-monthly basis if there are no transactions in the past six months.

 

Central Depository Security Code

Central Depository (CDP) security code differs from SGX stock symbol.  The security code for Sembcorp Marine is 1H97 whereas the stock symbol is S51

CPF Investment Scheme Stocks

List of shares included under the CPF Investment Scheme (CPFIS) can be viewed the following link:

These shares are indicated by a “Y” under the CPFIS column.

SRS funds can be used for stocks listed on SGX.

Unlike SRS funds, CPF funds can only be used for selected stocks.

Note:

  • Amendment of cash trade to CPF can only be done on the trade date.
  • Sale of CPF shares cannot be done on the purchase date.  It has to be done at least one day later.
